That means that there is an enormous amount of waste water left behind. The amount of water used is two to three times as much water as is actually produced.
There are a number of other problems that can be caused by reverse osmosis systems. Residential systems are notorious for requiring a great deal of maintenance. They also cost more to operate than other types of filtering systems.
